Mineral Makeup Review
As promised, here's my reviews of the BareMineral Foundation, e.l.f Mineral Foundation, and Physician's formula Mineral Wear Powder.
1. BareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation
Starting off with the BareMinerals one, here's what they say on their website:
Our ORIGINAL SPF 15 Foundation gives you all the flawless coverage you want with a naturally luminous finish that won't clump or cake. It's clinically proven to improve the appearance of your skin over time. The creamy minerals diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles without drying out your skin. Its silky, soft texture looks like a powder, but feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully. Made with only the purest, highest quality ingredients. It's makeup so pure you can sleep in it.®
I would have to say this is my favourite out of all three. I purchased the kit, which includes the Original in Fair and Fairly Light. I tried both, and decided that the "Fair" matches my skintone better. The foundation container is the best among them because it has a a good lid that prevents product from spilling or getting all over the place, which tends to happen quite often with powder makeup. All you have to do is twist the lid to open it up and twist it back the opposite direction to close. Neat and tidy =)
The BareMineral makeup provides really good coverage ~ buildable from sheer to full coverage. It was extremely comfortable and lightweight, so it didn't even feel like I had foundation on. The best part was that it looked so natural! It had a no makeup look, but my pores and redness were smoothed out! I tend to prefer the medium coverage, without looking cakey or fake. Another worry that I tend to have is how the makeup looks like applied in bright sunlight. Most liquid foundations tend to make makeup look very obvious in sunlight, but this powder foundation looked absolutely natural in sunlight! This powder also didn't give me any breakouts or cause any reactions for my skin. It wasn't cakey at all and just naturally smoothed out my skin ^o^ ~
2. E.l.f Mineral Foundation
This product taught me never to judge anything by its price. Super affordable for its quality ~ I got this for $2.50 USD when it was on sale. Where can you get makeup this cheap these days?! I read a lot of great reviews about this product and seeing how even Oprah recommended this brand *laughs*, I decided to give it a shot.
From their website:
Our weightless mineral foundation will help get you on your way to healthier illuminating skin. Infused with key Vitamin E for rich antioxidants that hydrate and replenish the skin. All our powders blend naturally into the skin, and are so light that they work with your skin color to create a perfect color match. All of our foundations contain sun protection factor (spf) 15 and are 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.
First of all, the feeling this one gave is similar to the BareMinerals one in how lightweight and breathable it feels like with it on. The coverage is much more sheer, although buildable to a medium coverage. Shine control was ok ~ my skin became slightly more oily during the day, when compared with having BareMinerals on. It also didn't last as long as I would like, although reapplying some powder during the day really helps. Still, for the price... I would have to say this one is very similar in quality to the BareMinerals foundation, and a LOT cheaper =)
The container wasn't as great as well. I accidentally dropped it once and when i opened the lid, the powder was all over the place and got quite messy ~
3. Physicians's Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder
I wanted to review a drugstore brand of mineral powder foundation and decided to go with Physician's Formula. Here's what they say from their website:
Overall, I would highly recommend purchasing BareMinerals Foundation. It works wonders and my skin really did improve after using it for a while. However, f you're on a budget, I would suggest the e.l.f Mineral Foundation, which is almost just as good =)

My verdict:
Overall: 10/10 Flawless natural look with buildable coverage
Coverage: 10/10 Best part is that I can choose to go sheer, or apply more layers for a medium to full coverage!
Comfort: 10/10 Very lightweight and didn't feel like I had makeup on at all. It's healthy for my skin as well, and I don't have to worry about sleeping with it on ♥
Oil Control: 9/10 Became a bit oily halfway through the day, but it's not a problem at all with a bit of powder touchups
Price: 8/10 a little on the pricey side, but it's worth it! 1 jar lasts for a very long time ~

My verdict:
Overall: 9/10 Great quality for it's price!
Coverage: 8/10 Sheer coverage that covered up flaws without looking cakey or fake
Comfort: 10/10 Very lightweight and didn't feel like I had makeup on at all.
Oil Control: 8/10 Became quite oily halfway through the day
Price: 10/10 Where can you find $2.50 foundation these days?? xD
3. Physicians's Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder
I wanted to review a drugstore brand of mineral powder foundation and decided to go with Physician's Formula. Here's what they say from their website:
Description
- For extra sensitive or breakout-prone skin!
- Minimalist formula helps reduce irritation and breakout.
- Offers the performance and coverage of a foundation with the blendability and natural finish of a loose powder in one easy step.
- Innovative sifter lid helps contain mess.
- Brush snaps in place for ease of use and convenient storage.
Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder in Translucent Light |
I would have to say this one's my least favourite out of all three. The coverage was so sheer that it didn't even look like I applied anything. Even though I layered on several layers, it still look like nothing changed. This product is more suitable to use as a finishing powder than a foundation. My face also became very oily in no time and the sheer coverage became no coverage very soon as well =(
My verdict:
Overall: 7/10 Relatively good powder foundation, but I prefer more coverage
Coverage: 6/10 Very very sheer so I probably wonn't be using this as a foundation, perhaps as a finishing powder
Comfort: 10/10 Comfortable, lightweight and didn't feel like I had makeup on at all.
Oil Control: 6/10 Not very good oil control
Price: 9/10 reasonable drugstore price
Overall, I would highly recommend purchasing BareMinerals Foundation. It works wonders and my skin really did improve after using it for a while. However, f you're on a budget, I would suggest the e.l.f Mineral Foundation, which is almost just as good =)

Elf Haul + Friend's Farewell Dinner
I've been so busy lately and didn't have a chance to post up recent purchases ~
My e.l.f haul came in by mail a few days after my Bare Minerals haul came in =)
The brushes are super soft and good quality considering the super cheap price. I purchased the Mineral Powder Brush, Mineral Angled Blush Brush, the Mineral Complexion Brush, and the Studio Kabuki Brush. I got them when they were on sale for 50% off, so each brush was $2.50 USD! Nonetheless, I'd still say the Bare Mineral brushes were better because they have more precision when applying and they grab more product out of the containers. The Bare Mineral brushes are about 10x as expensive though, so if you're on a budget, I would suggest the elf brushes since they're really good quality and so much cheaper. Right now, elf is having another Minerals 50% off sale, which will be ending soon on June 6th.
I'll be posting up a review of all my mineral foundations soon, including my Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder.
Last Saturday, my friend from high school invited me and a few other friends for a little dinner get-together at his house. He's leaving to Toronto soon for his new job at the Bank of Canada, so the dinner was a small farewell dinner. He prepared all the food with his sister, and they were so delicious!
The plate setting was so cute!
After dinner, we played a board game called Dix It. It really brought back a lot of memories, because back then in high school, we would always play board games when we had our little gatherings. Makes me feel so old haha ^o^""
This game was basically a storytelling game. We each received 6 random cards. The first team would put out a card that's flipped over and give out a "hint" as to what the card may reveal. For example, someone may say, "Harry's enemy". And then we each choose a card out of the 6 cards that we have that may have something to do with that hint. After we put out all our cards, they are shuffled and then flipped over to reveal the pictures. Next, we each choose the card that we believe is the Storyteller's card (the first team who gave out the hint) and whoever guesses the right card gets the points, and for those who put out a card that tricked others in believing that it was the Storyteller's card, they get points as well =)
It was a very entertaining game and my team won in the end ^__^
Anyways, I wish my friend luck and success in his new job in Toronto. Hopefully, he'll be back to visit sometime soon =)

Dinner at Moxie's + Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner
Tonight, I went out for dinner @ Moxie's for my friend's birthday dinner =)
She planned it together with her friend so there were 2 birthday girls tonight and there were a lot of people who came to the dinner, so we took up a section of the lounge area ~
I chose the Linguine Fresco, and it was pretty good, although not as filling =P
And here's their birthday cake! It's absolutely adorable, so I had to take a picture of it xD
(Note: It looked nothing like this anymore after cutting it up into 30+ pieces ~ i forgot to take a picture of the "after look" ^o^)
Anyways, it was a really good dinner and I met a lot of new people as well ♥
Outfit for the night =)
Also, before heading out, I was playing around with my Fuji Instax camera after replacing a new pack of film into my camera.
I think I should use my Fuji camera more often since I still have a few packs of film left and they're going to expire soon. I totally forgot they had an expire date and left my camera in my drawer for a very long time. I took it back out the other day after doing some room cleaning ~
I'm thinking of starting Tumblr as well. There's so many great inspirations, such as: Pop Cutie and Helena, and it's a great place to share and view photos. But I'll have to wait until I have more time on my hands, since I'm quite busy with school, work, and piano lately ~
I'm going to finish off this post with my favourite Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner. It's my favourite because it literally stays on all day, without smudging or rubbing off. It's also waterproof, so it stays on even on a hot sunny day or when I'm exercising.
The packaging is extremely cute as well ♥
I really like all the Koji Dollywink and Candy Doll beauty products. Although they are on the pricey side, the quality is always really good, and totally worth the extra bucks. In addition, they're all by Tsubasa Masuwaka, my favourite model and idol ^o^
This eyeliner is definitely one of my HG products, and I'll continue buying this for a long time =)

B2ST + Bare Minerals + EOS Neon Pink
This song's been stuck in my head for the whole day ... B2ST - Fiction ♥
The tune is very nice and they look sooo hot in the MV!! ♥ I first started noticing B2ST/BEAST since Lee Ki Kwang played in the drama My Princess. His acting was so cute and since then I've been listening to a few of their songs. This one's probably my favorite so far =)
Also, my bareMinerals parcel finally arrived =)
After hearing so many good things about BareMinerals, and reading so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try as well. Mineral makeup is known to be good for your skin. It is also said to improve skin tone and correct various skin issues.
I bought the Get Started Kit in fair, which I got from their website for $60 USD.
It includes:
- 1 Fair and 1 Fairly Light Original SPF 15 Foundation, size Medium
- 1 Mineral Veil Finishing Powder, size Medium
- 1 Warmth All-Over Face Color, size Medium
- 1 Handi Buki Brush
- 1 Flawless Application Face Brush
- 1 Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush
- 4 Bonus Gifts: which in my case is a small concealer brush, a mascara, a compact with mirror, and a small zipper bag that comes with it.
I'm looking forward to trying it out tomorrow xD
I will be posting reviews soon as well ^_^y
Tonight, I went out for dinner @ Wings on Davie and Granville ~
Here's my outfit for the night =)

I'm wearing EOS G209 in Neon Pink ~ I wore these lenses for Halloween back in October last year, and didn't have a chance to wear them again. I decided to wear them today and I suddenly really like them haha xD Although they don't look natural at all (my sister said I look like a Vampire), we both decided that it looked very exotic and eye-catching =)
Item details
Brand : E.O.S

Color: 10/10 the color was very vibrant and bright, which I loved! ♥
Enlargement: 10/10 definitely good enlargement without looking too extreme ~
Overall: 10/10 Loved the exotic look and will definitely wear more often ^o^

The Start of Summer and Eyemazing
The weather's been very nice and sunny for the past few days in Vancouver, which is nice since I'm off school for a few weeks before my summer semester begins =).
It feels wonderful to wake up late, and not having to worry about studying for exams or completing assignments xD ~
However, a lot of my friends are still in the middle of their exams, so I wish them the best of luck!
I was just thinking the other day that it's been so long since I last went to watch a movie. I heard a lot of good things about Limitless and Sucker Punch, so I would really love to go watch those when I have the chance.
Yesterday, I tried the Eyemazing #1 Lashes that I wrote about on my last post.
By the way, I'm wearing EOS Adult Brown (E203) circle lenses here ~
They are one of my favourite brown circle lenses because they are so comfortable and so natural looking. They enhance my dark brown eyes, without looking overly dramatic.
Overall, I really love these lashes! They were very comfy and easy to use. The only downside is that they are bit too dramatic for everyday use. I was going to try on the lower lashes as well, but I was too lazy ^o^.
Since yesterday was such a beautiful sunny day, I decided to wear a dress ~
It ended up being extremely cold and windy yesterday >"<
Haha but it was alright since I was mostly indoors ~

Cupcakes and Lashes
I'm officially done with all my finals and can finally spend some time blogging again! :D
The Vancouver weather's been really on and off lately. One day it's bright and sunny, and then rainy and hailing (even snowing) the next. Well I guess I can't really complain since I've been home almost everyday stuck in my room or at the school library studying haha xD.
But it would be nice if it was warm and sunny... I've started fantasizing about wearing summer clothes and going out for shopping on Robson and late night walks along the beach. Luckily, it won't be too long until summer =)
Anyways, I got a new package in the mail a few days ago:

I've heard so many good things about Eyemazing and Melliesh, so I decided to give them a try. For Jewerich, they looked pretty nice and the packaging was really cute, so I ordered them as well. I will find some time to write reviews for them soon ^o^.
I also received a small gift from my piano student today ~
I opened my door and my piano student jumps right in:
"IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TODAY! This is for you"
She was holding it up to me with a huge smile on her face.
So cute! >///< And she had on a princess tiara today with a cute polka dot dress ~
Things that brings a smile to my face and brightens up my day ♥
