Nightmarket + Car + Estrella

Last night I went to the Richmond Night Market again.  I really love going because going there gives me the feeling of being in Hong Kong, with all the people and the crowds.  I love the feeling of a busy night life =)

Here was my outfit for the night ~

Romper: Liz Lisa
I added on a round straw hat to add a summery touch to my outfit ^o^

Super busy food area! Took us more than 10 minutes to move from one side to the other!

Food was really delicious but very slow since the lineups were very long.  Overall, a very good experience with cheap food and nice ambience full of people and excitement ♥

I also tried out a hairband yesterday since I saw it all over the Popteen magazines and wanted to try it myself ~ yay or nay?

By the way, I finally bought a new car.  After being in an accident last year, which totaled my car, I had to start saving up for a new one.  At first, it was hard getting used to taking the bus again, but now it's almost my second home on the bus haha xD Either way, I'm very happy to have a car again and now life would be a lot easier for me to teach piano, facetrade, whatnot ~

Here's my new baby:

Second hand Audi A4 ~ very lucky that I got this car at a very reasonable price
The front bumper needs to be fixed, however.  (Can you see the duct tape on the left side? xD) But I'm very happy I can drive again now ^o^

Also, my sister's boyfriend gave us one of his dogs yesterday.  She's a shih tzu and her name's Estrella! 4 years old and extremely loyal and a verrrry good girl

such a sleepyhead xD

awwwwwwwe ♥o
where are you going??? :D

Until next time! Thanks for reading ^o^

MA*RS + Dream V + Grace Gift Wishlist Items ♥

Here are some super cute items by MA*RS on my wishlist at the moment ~

A modern street style school girl look xD I love the floral prints!

An item from the Jewel series! Love the matching leg scrunchy ♥o
I was about to buy this set (the dress and the leg accessory, but it's actually about $85 CAD for the dress and $65 for the accessory ... too much for my wallet to handle at the moment T__T haha xD ~ Gotta save up for this though! =)

I really want the pink one but it's sold out, and it's about $60 CAD ... a bit too much for lace stockings, but the design is just too adorable xD

Romper and dress sets perfect for the summer weather! ~ ^o^

Gorgeous necklace, combining both my favourites: Bows and Flowers!

I also came across this Dream V dress that is quite similar to the MA*RS Jewel series

For more than half the price of MA*RS, this dress is extremely sexy and glamourous.

I also came across some extremely cute flats from Grace Gift that made me wanna buy them straight away xD (oh my shopaholic self! haha)

Sooo adorable and I love the pink color! They also look very comfortable and soft ^o^

That's all for now...until next time! I'll be posting up my favourite BB creams and sunblocks on my next post =)

Vancouver Riot

So finally I'll be writing my delayed post about the final hockey game last Wednesday ^o^
I went to downtown on the day to catch the game.

Wearing my Vancouver x Luongo Tee!

Wearing GREEN circle lenses to support the Canucks!

We got to downtown quite late though, so every single pub/ bar we could think of was full and wasn't accepting anymore incomers.  Luckily, we found a small restaurant near the hair salon that I go to (Chura Hairsalon) that still had some spots left.

Called Scoozis, a Mediterranean Bar & Grill, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and the best part was that they had several TVs to watch the game xD

We ordered the 12" House Special Pizza for starters, which was super delicious although expensive xD

And of course we're watching the game =)

We lost in the end =( ....  Although it was a disappointing game, it's still good to see that we made it to the finals and to the very last game =)

Now comes the highlight of the day....the Vancouver Riot.

Waiting for Canuck's Final Hockey Game of the Season!

So here I am, super excited for tomorrow's game! Although the game yesterday wasn't so great, I still believe the Canucks will play their best on their last and final game of the season!  Canucks have come a long way to where they are now, and they've shown me never to give up until we reach our goals.  I'll be sure to wear a Luongo t-shirt tomorrow to support him =)

On a side note, I felt like posting some Dream V items that I have on my wishlist at the moment ~

Super cute cardigan purrrfect for the summer to go with floral dresses and lacey tops!  I like the denim ones, especially the light blue one~

I also really like the design of this white skirt.  This will go really nicely with black tops and knee high boots.

I will be posting again tomorrow! Heading to downtown to watch the game.  I'll be sure to take lots of pictures =)

Mineral Makeup Review

As promised, here's my reviews of the BareMineral Foundation, e.l.f Mineral Foundation, and Physician's formula Mineral Wear Powder.

1. BareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation

Starting off with the BareMinerals one, here's what they say on their website:

Our ORIGINAL SPF 15 Foundation gives you all the flawless coverage you want with a naturally luminous finish that won't clump or cake. It's clinically proven to improve the appearance of your skin over time. The creamy minerals diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles without drying out your skin. Its silky, soft texture looks like a powder, but feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully. Made with only the purest, highest quality ingredients. It's makeup so pure you can sleep in it.®

I would have to say this is my favourite out of all three.  I purchased the kit, which includes the Original in Fair and Fairly Light.  I tried both, and decided that the "Fair" matches my skintone better.  The foundation container is the best among them because it has a a good lid that prevents product from spilling or getting all over the place, which tends to happen quite often with powder makeup.  All you have to do is twist the lid to open it up and twist it back the opposite direction to close.  Neat and tidy =)

The BareMineral makeup provides really good coverage ~ buildable from sheer to full coverage.  It was extremely comfortable and lightweight, so it didn't even feel like I had foundation on.  The best part was that it looked so natural! It had a no makeup look, but my pores and redness were smoothed out!  I tend to prefer the medium coverage, without looking cakey or fake.  Another worry that I tend to have is how the makeup looks like applied in bright sunlight. Most liquid foundations tend to make makeup look very obvious in sunlight, but this powder foundation looked absolutely natural in sunlight!  This powder also didn't give me any breakouts or cause any reactions for my skin. It wasn't cakey at all and just naturally smoothed out my skin ^o^ ~

My verdict:

Overall: 10/10 Flawless natural look with buildable coverage
Coverage: 10/10 Best part is that I can choose to go sheer, or apply more layers for a medium to full coverage!
Comfort: 10/10 Very lightweight and didn't feel like I had makeup on at all. It's healthy for my skin as well, and I don't have to worry about sleeping with it on
Oil Control: 9/10 Became a bit oily halfway through the day, but it's not a problem at all with a bit of powder touchups
Price: 8/10 a little on the pricey side, but it's worth it! 1 jar lasts for a very long time ~

2. E.l.f Mineral Foundation

This product taught me never to judge anything by its price.  Super affordable for its quality ~ I got this for $2.50 USD when it was on sale.  Where can you get makeup this cheap these days?! I read a lot of great reviews about this product and seeing how even Oprah recommended this brand *laughs*, I decided to give it a shot.

From their website:

Our weightless mineral foundation will help get you on your way to healthier illuminating skin. Infused with key Vitamin E for rich antioxidants that hydrate and replenish the skin. All our powders blend naturally into the skin, and are so light that they work with your skin color to create a perfect color match. All of our foundations contain sun protection factor (spf) 15 and are 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.

e.l.f Mineral Foundation in "Fair"

First of all, the feeling this one gave is similar to the BareMinerals one in how lightweight and breathable it feels like with it on.  The coverage is much more sheer, although buildable to a medium coverage.  Shine control was ok ~ my skin became slightly more oily during the day, when compared with having BareMinerals on.  It also didn't last as long as I would like, although reapplying some powder during the day really helps.  Still, for the price... I would have to say this one is very similar in quality to the BareMinerals foundation, and a LOT cheaper =)

comparison of the size difference

The container wasn't as great as well.  I accidentally dropped it once and when i opened the lid, the powder was all over the place and got quite messy ~

My verdict:

Overall: 9/10 Great quality for it's price!
Coverage: 8/10 Sheer coverage that covered up flaws without looking cakey or fake
Comfort: 10/10 Very lightweight and didn't feel like I had makeup on at all.
Oil Control: 8/10 Became quite oily halfway through the day
Price: 10/10 Where can you find $2.50 foundation these days?? xD

3. Physicians's Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder

I wanted to review a drugstore brand of mineral powder foundation and decided to go with Physician's Formula. Here's what they say from their website:

Description
  • For extra sensitive or breakout-prone skin!
  • Minimalist formula helps reduce irritation and breakout.
  • Offers the performance and coverage of a foundation with the blendability and natural finish of a loose powder in one easy step.
  • Innovative sifter lid helps contain mess.
  • Brush snaps in place for ease of use and convenient storage.

Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder in Translucent Light

I would have to say this one's my least favourite out of all three.  The coverage was so sheer that it didn't even look like I applied anything.  Even though I layered on several layers, it still look like nothing changed.  This product is more suitable to use as a finishing powder than a foundation.  My face also became very oily in no time and the sheer coverage became no coverage very soon as well =(

My verdict:

Overall: 7/10 Relatively good powder foundation, but I prefer more coverage
Coverage: 6/10 Very very sheer so I probably wonn't be using this as a foundation, perhaps as a finishing powder
Comfort: 10/10 Comfortable, lightweight and didn't feel like I had makeup on at all.
Oil Control: 6/10 Not very good oil control
Price: 9/10 reasonable drugstore price

Overall, I would highly recommend purchasing BareMinerals Foundation.  It works wonders and my skin really did improve after using it for a while.  However, f you're on a budget, I would suggest the e.l.f Mineral Foundation, which is almost just as good =)

SungKyunKwan Scandal

Another awesome Korean drama! This one's called Sungkyunkwan Scandal ~

Here's a short summary from Dramawiki
Sungkyunkwan Scandal is set in Sungkyunkwan University in the late Joseon era during the reign of King Jeongjo, revolving around the exploits and love stories of four youths. When her younger brother's illness worsens and their family is in danger of being evicted from their house for lack of money, Kim Yoon Hee enters the school under his name, disguised as a boy in her desperation to support him. There, she becomes friends with the intelligent and upright Lee Sun Joon, the playboy Goo Yong Ha and rebellious Moon Jae Shin.

I don't normally watch historical dramas, but this one is written in a very "modern" way, so there was a lot of comedy in it.  The drama just never ends and each solved cliff hanger led right to another xD There were so many unexpected twists that I never expected would happen, which makes the drama all the more interesting.
Overall, a highly recommended drama! Very cute and entertaining =)

Elf Haul + Friend's Farewell Dinner

I've been so busy lately and didn't have a chance to post up recent purchases ~

My e.l.f haul came in by mail a few days after my Bare Minerals haul came in =)

The brushes are super soft and good quality considering the super cheap price.  I purchased the Mineral Powder Brush, Mineral Angled Blush Brush, the Mineral Complexion Brush, and the Studio Kabuki Brush.  I got them when they were on sale for 50% off, so each brush was $2.50 USD! Nonetheless, I'd still say the Bare Mineral brushes were better because they have more precision when applying and they grab more product out of the containers.  The Bare Mineral brushes are about 10x as expensive though, so if you're on a budget, I would suggest the elf brushes since they're really good quality and so much cheaper.  Right now, elf is having another Minerals 50% off sale, which will be ending soon on June 6th.

I'll be posting up a review of all my mineral foundations soon, including my Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder.

Last Saturday, my friend from high school invited me and a few other friends for a little dinner get-together at his house.  He's leaving to Toronto soon for his new job at the Bank of Canada, so the dinner was a small farewell dinner.  He prepared all the food with his sister, and they were so delicious!

The plate setting was so cute!

After dinner, we played a board game called Dix It.  It really brought back a lot of memories, because back then in high school, we would always play board games when we had our little gatherings. Makes me feel so old haha ^o^""

This game was basically a storytelling game.  We each received 6 random cards.  The first team would put out a card that's flipped over and give out a "hint" as to what the card may reveal.  For example, someone may say, "Harry's enemy".  And then we each choose a card out of the 6 cards that we have that may have something to do with that hint.  After we put out all our cards, they are shuffled and then flipped over to reveal the pictures.  Next, we each choose the card that we believe is the Storyteller's card (the first team who gave out the hint) and whoever guesses the right card gets the points, and for those who put out a card that tricked others in believing that it was the Storyteller's card, they get points as well =)

It was a very entertaining game and my team won in the end ^__^

Anyways, I wish my friend luck and success in his new job in Toronto.  Hopefully, he'll be back to visit sometime soon =)
